Before we launch into the compliance updates – and there are quite a few this edition – we want to pause and say thank you.
On 23 January, we celebrated fifteen years of Enderley Consulting at Hencote Vineyard in Shrewsbury, surrounded by the clients, friends, and professional partners who have made those fifteen years what they have been. People travelled from across the country to be with us, and we were genuinely moved by that. It meant everything. If you were there, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you sent your wishes from afar, those meant just as much.
Right. Onto compliance…and it’s been busy!
The FATF added Kuwait and Papua New Guinea to its grey list, triggering mandatory enhanced due diligence obligations with immediate effect. Alongside that, Transparency International’s 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index recorded the lowest global average corruption score in over a decade, and we explain why FATF lists alone are no longer enough for a compliant geographic risk assessment. On sanctions, the OFSI Consolidated List has been retired and the UK Sanctions List is now the single authority, with important practical implications many firms have not yet acted on.
The SRA’s AML enforcement programme conducted 935 supervisory engagements last year — a 72% increase — with fines topping £565,000. Crypto due diligence, the new misconduct reporting form, the delayed Mortgage Lenders’ Handbook platform, rising probate complaints, the ICO’s revised international transfer guidance, and the SRA’s sobering thematic review of compliance officers all feature too.
And we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Enderley InfoHub – our new compliance platform built in partnership with Infolegal. We have been hinting at something special, and we genuinely think this is it.
Plenty to read. As always we hope you find it useful but if there are any items you’d like us to focus on, do let us know.
