Compliance Lifeline • June 2026 Regulatory change is coming fast – is your firm ready?

As we move into the second half of the year, the regulatory landscape for law firms continues to evolve at pace.

From changes to SRA supervision and whistleblowing requirements to increasing scrutiny of sanctions compliance and AML controls, firms are facing growing expectations around governance, risk management and culture.

One deadline that should already be on your radar is the SRA’s 2026 AML and sanctions data collection exercise, which opens on 29 June, with returns required during July. The SRA is urging firms to review the questionnaire now and ensure they have the necessary information, systems and controls in place before the portal opens.

In this month’s update, we’ve brought together six of our latest articles covering the regulatory developments that matter most to law firms right now.  Whether you’re reviewing your AML framework, considering the implications of the FCA’s growing influence, or assessing whether your firm’s culture would stand up to regulatory scrutiny, these insights will help you stay informed and prepared.

We are here to help you stay ahead of the compliance curve

The common thread weaving through all of these developments is that regulators are looking beyond policies and procedures on paper. Increasingly, they want evidence that firms understand their risks, have effective controls in place and embrace a culture where compliance is embedded in everyday practice.

If any of the issues raised in these articles resonate with challenges your firm is currently facing, we’re here to help. From AML audits and compliance reviews to governance support, training and regulatory consultancy, we work with law firms across  to build practical, proportionate compliance frameworks that stand up to scrutiny.
